fan question

I have 2, 16" electric fans would I be wasting my time of I were to take my belt driven fan off and wired in the two electric. Is it worth it or not.

It would be quieter i'm sure. I don't know how much HP or fuel it will save but there is a way to find out. I also am not sure if the electrics will move enough air to keep it cool when pulling hard over long grades so I would watch the temps.

Give it a try and let us know how it works out.

I believe it would take more than that to help keep it cool, especially if you tow even light loads. Not to mention the amps it takes to run the fans will also take some hp away from your motor just as the factory one does. The factory viscous fan doesn't actually rob the motor of all that much hp. These motors are torquey and the difference would be minimal from what I have learned and tried before. Hope that helps man.

Also keep in mind that the fan clutch isn't supposed to lock up until approx. 220°. If yours is locking up quite often the clutch could be bad. The only time my fan clutch locks up is on a grade and while towing. Can't remember the last time the fan locked up when not towing or sitting in traffic on a 100°+ day. When it does reach those kinds of temps I'm glad I have that big azz mechanical fan. It will push much more air then 2 12" electrics.
