Styleside it the typical bed with the fenders on the inside of the bed while the flareside has the fenders inside the bed. The Ford Lightning is an example of a flareside truck.
I agree on the flairside being the nicest. I have a 93 flairside xlt that i bought new in Nov of 92. It only has 75 thous on it and never sees the Ohio salt being driven only in summer.
The styleside is for someone that wants a truck to do truck things, like fill the bed with debris. The flareside/stepside is definitely for looks because it can't hold much of anything.
Does it really matter? Everyone has their own tastes. To me? My idea of an ideal pickup truck is a 4x4 with a standard cab and an 8 foot styleside bed. Preferably older!! Somebody else might like a 4x2, someone else might like a 6 foot flareside... whatever floats your boat! Not only do I like the looks of a styleside, it can hold more stuff
Pastmaster: Flaresides were fiberglass in 1980, well the fenders are anyway and for some strange reaons my flareside has a 6'6" bed.

reddevilf150: Yeah, I was in a hurry, I ment, flaresides have the fenders outside the bed and fleetsides have them inside. Boy I bet I confused the poster real well!
mustange70: I didn't know that, I knew the tailgates were steel, but assumed the rest was too. Does yours have a wood floor?
