if you were changing the fuel filter you could have almost touched that plug! the HPOP is directly under the fuel filter. the plug Bob is referring to is out the back of the HPOP. i sure Bob has some good pick or we can call on Stewart or Robin, they are the picture librarians for us.

I recall reading that someone who'd cut and rewelded the crossmeber didn't recommend it. That ther was someone who loosened trans and motormounts and lifted motor enough to repair pan. There is also someone who sells a fiberglass cover kit with instrctions that can be installed. Hopefully you can search for these or one of the co-ordinators can find these for you.

I was confused there for a minute. Maybe looking for the oil pan thread. Anyway, just left autozone with degreaser and a mirror. I'm visiting the fiancé for the weekend so I don't have all of my tools. I'll report back with findings. Thanks for the help so far guys. Hopefully, I can get this thing figured out.

I found the plugs guzzle was talking about and the one on the drivers side and passenger side are dry. There doesn't appear to be any leakage around them. What's my next move? Pull the turbo and hoses so I can access that area better?

look under the turbo on the passenger side. there is a rod that comes out of the turbo pedestal. this rod activates the Exhaust Back pressure warm up valve. Oil can leak out around that rod. The pedestal oil o rings can also leak. you don't need to pull the turbo to see these just a good flashlight and maybe a mirror.
you will, however, have to pull the turbo IF they are leaking
Happy Hunting!

That is good news because the plugs on the rear are a son-of-a-gun to get to.

I would suggest that you check out the valley closer. If you pull the spider assembly with the 4 boots, you can get a better look at what the rear of the valley looks like along with the EBPV actuator that comes out of the back of the turbo. Also make sure it is oil and not fuel that is mixed with grime that can disguise itself as oil. Fuel leaking on the fitting on the rear passenger fuel rail connection will also coat the starter.

I just assumed that since the oil was so low that I was oil leaking out. I'll check it out a little closer though. I have smelled it and it didn't smell like diesel though. Do you have a pic of this spider assembly you speak of?
