300 HEAD INTERCHANGEABILITY

Good morning everyone. I have a 77 F100 and am looking to find a junkyard head to replace mine. Which year carbed heads will work and are some better than others?

They are all interchangeable and the only difference is between the carbed heads and the EFI heads and either can be used. The EFI head will probably give about a .5 bump in compression and have the so-called fast burn characteristic. Make sure you have the new head checked thoroughly for cracks.

I've read that it's pretty difficult to find an EFI head in the jy that's not cracked.

Whatever you get, do like Harte3 said, and have it magnafluxed for cracks.
