I need to know what are some good parts for my 2003 F150. I want to build the axles up this summer, Im wanting to to run 4.56 gears, stronger axle shafts for the rear, stronger CV axles for the front. I allso want to run a locker in the rear and some sort of limited slip for the front. I just want some feed back on some parts that you guys have used good or bad. Any info would help thanks
I wouldn't worry to much about the rear!
Ive been running 4.10 gears and hitting it with 600RWHP + a 100 shot of nitrous off the line at the drag-strip with slicks.
Only thing I ever had a problem with so far was the pinion bearing.
I cant afford the price of repairs with a F-250, I just broke my truck tonight, The driver side CV axle let go when I was playing in some mud. I guess its time for an upgrade!
The rear end is pleanty solid. the 9.75 comes well beefed from the factory. Adding gears and locker would be a nice upgrade.
The ford 8.8 up front is also a decent front end, but im not sure what to do about the half shafts. Im sure someone builds a stronger one for it.
Unfotunatly the LS from the rear of your truck will not go in the front axle. but if you find a LS from a 8.8 at a junk yard it should go in. I have been looking at this swap for awhile. Although im not sure what it will do to the front end vacuum disconect.
im not sure what you would need a LS unit in the front end for ? Truck seems to go about anywhere I need to go right now ? You ever try to steer a 4 x 4 with locker rear end and LS unit in the front ?
