My first stroker
I have built a 410 Merc and with the over bore it was something like 417.
I used a Comp 268 Cam, Edelbrock Preformer RPM manifold, headers, electric fans, and a full Mallory ignition. I did my usual tune-up, and wow was I surprised with the sheer torque. I had to re-gear the 4.11's in my D-60 to 3.54's and still it would flat lay rubber.
Ford 390's are very similar to 455 Olds and Pontiacs. All these motors due is produce torque, and obscene amounts of it too. So I would build it too take advantage of those long storkes, and gear it accordingly. My 410 could lug at 1500 in my F250 and torque right out with a big load behind it.

Im rockin the 410 in my truck, have gobs of torque...
But what would you be doing with all the torque that that 445 will put down? Well once you quit breaking things your gunna have a good 10 grand in suspension upgrades...
Its allways nice to shoot big, but you can only use so much power, there is a point where your nolonger going to be able to keep traction with out like 50" tires ya know!! or massive drag radials if its 2WD

Anything I want! haha The 445 is a beast. After driving the 360 for so long, which actually wasnt all that bad(w/headers,msd,4v intake & carb), I can't get enough of the new engine. The first time I stomped it I thought I was going to go through the back glass from the sheer power. lol But seriously it's pretty awesome to have 450hp and 550ft lbs at the ready. Definitely need to upgrade u joints though, and throw on some ladder bars on the back. Next on the list would be upgraded brakes to stop what I now can potentially tow.
Mpgs aren't all that bad about 8 in town 11 hwy. This may seem terrible but it's about the same as the 360. This is with a feather foot though and I never go above 60 when cruising around. The tires are 315/75 which is about 34-35" or so and 4.10 gears. It's actually very streetable and really smooth from 1200-3000rpm. Past that it starts to breath a little fire. And at idle it's pretty choppy(which I like).
Ok so here are the build specs:
+.030
4.25" scat crank
6.7" I beam rods (BBC)
9.8:1 Diamond pistons
C8AE-H heads CJ valves(2.09x1.65) a little porting. Eventually will be Edel. aluminum on there but I got a good deal ($500 for pair) on these and can't afford them yet.
Edelbrock rpm intake
Comp Cams xe274h
dur. @.050 230/236
adv. dur. 274/286
lift .562/.565
Lsa 110
Stock non-adj. rocker assy. I know it seems like a lot of lift for the stock stuff. Per Barry this is about the max the stock can do, but it can do it. I trust Barry and have had no problems.
Holley 4160 750cfm
Hooker 27" long tubes to 18" glass packs dumped in front of the axle. (2 1/2" all the way)
Canton 7qt rear sump oil pan. All oiling mods done.
MSD ignition & dizzy
ARP everything.
I was going to build a 410 but around here FE's are exceedingly rare, let alone a 428 showing up. I would have to buy the rotating assy anyways and it was going to be about the same price, so I was like... might as well. Glad I did. All my buddies have new cars and know very little about carbed old motors. But it's all so vanilla, LS this and LS that, GM, GM, GM, blah blah. I'm the only one with a Ford and the only one NA. Everybody supercharges these days. It's all good though, I have more people complimenting me at gas stations than their vettes, camaro's, T/A's, and gto's.
Let's go Steelers!!!

yah you get maby a little less than I did with my 410, but that was doing 50 and 55.
that was driving around with 4.11 gears, 31X10.50 baja claw tires...
Questions about your exhaust too, I have that exact same setup sitting in the back of my car waiting for summertime...
How dose your starter like having that header next to it? burn up many? how dose it sound?
I have thought about one of their stroker kits, but I allredy have a 410, and it will cost me about the same to do a full build on my engine, you know bore it, blaance and blue print, head work, roller rockers, H beam rods, high compression pistons, cam, and all the other important things. versus just getting a crank, rods, pistons, and berings...

I haven't had any problems with burning up starters. I know others that have had worse luck though. I have header wrap now, just in case, but I ran headers for 3 years without any and never burned any wires.
As far as the exhaust goes, it's not going to have that smooth rumble like a full length setup with whatever muffler (magnaflow,flowmaster,etc.). It has some resonance from idle-1500rpm. But it's really free flowing and actually not that loud until you get a little higher in the rpms. Of course thats my opinion, some might think otherwise but I ran the 360 for a while with open headers and about 6' of pipe when I first got it. It's much better now. Got tired of coasting by the law! Cruising through the parking lot though I still set off car alarms a row over. haha
Sounds close to this YouTube - 1997 mustang comp cams hitting hard.
the tone is a little deeper than his (more cubes) but same cam
Yeah if you already have the 410 I would build that to whatever you want. Thats what I would have originally went with but no part availability for the conversion. How much hp/tq are you shooting for? Unless you are making 600hp you dont "need" h-beams. I understand if you just want the peace of mind though just saying it's not necessary.
