What headliners have you used in your trucks that was not the original type? The cab is close to being ready to paint and I want to think about how im going to do the inside of it. I do not like the original style headliner. Any thoughts or advice?
I got some material at a swap meet that is used for lots of interior panels. It is 1/4" foam with nice cloth face. The only problem I see with it is keeping it stuck to a backer. Great for quieting, I bet.
I'm going to try to make my own headliner.......got a few ideas. We'll see if it works or looks like cr#p. If it looks good I'll put a build thread on here
If not, well....
I would like to use the modern foam like what was mentioned above, but I am not sure how i would get it to look nice above the doors where the original cardboard screwed into it, I could fold it under, but then it would be obvious and look shaggy.
I bought the ABS one from Sacramento Ford a few years back...seemed easy enough to install, just have to choose what style of covering to use. The one i have has these recessed curves in them that i plan on filling with foam for a smooth look. I shouldn't say I, but the upholstery shop i use will do it
I'll be needing a headliner this summer, and I'm not sure what I'm going to use, either. I've seen the stock type, cardboard style all the vendors sell, and they're ok, but just ok. At least they come in a few colors. I'd like to see something that was more of a fabric product, or at least cardboard covered with fabric. Please let us know what you discover.
