Okay, that makes sense. Im probably gonna just get it all done with and do it right. The truck has 128k miles on it, so im sure it has never been done before. Is this a common thing to go out with the amount of miles listed?
Just did my pump the other day. Any water pump can go out at any time or mileage. To me seems low, but that is just me. I mine went at 188,563.6 and still has not moved since. Changed it Thurs. now just waiting for it to warm up. Follow Robin's posts and you'll have it done in no time.
I figured.. Just not sure what to think about this truck. Just bought it about 9 months ago and keep having minor things go wrong like this. Just worries me i guess..
188.5k is pretty damn good. My original pump went out before I hit 99k. Small leak from weep hole but I can't stand any kind of leak. Whatever is leaking is going to be repaired or replaced ASAP. I'm OCD about leaks.
Yea, thats my dilemma too. I had an opportunity to use a garage today for a couple hours and wont be able to use one again till mid week. Just hope that it doesnt hurt anything driving it in the meantime.
Did you buy the parts listed previously from that site?
I purchase my parts from Clay and Ed whenever possible. Unfortunately with my waterpump issue, I could not buy from either. Still using my 203 tstat for now, until next week. Ordering a new one through Terminator Engineering, a 180 tstat. Going to have lower oil temps. Racing season will be here real soon.
I had to improvise this time. Pipe wrench and Channel locks. Inside on the living room floor in front of the fire. Didn't have the transportation to go to the zoo either. Not easy and mesy... Ice chunks everywhere. When I did it a month or so ago, I used the tools, way easier.

Second pump in a month. Edit : Nevermind. I read the previous posts.
You know you can call me. I'm only 100 miles away. That ain't so far considering how remote it is where we live.
Last Saturday I was down in Phoenix and bought an 18" crescent for the fan nut and a chain wrench for the pulley at HFT. If I don't use them for a water pump R&R I'm sure I'll eventually use them for something.
Thanks for all the help guys, im going to order this stuff on monday and hopefully have her fixed up this week.
If you are going to borrow tools from AutoZoo get 2 fan removal kits.
The kit for the 7.3 (Kit #27141) has a good fan nut wrench but a lousy pulley holder.
The kit for a 4.9 (Kit #27018) has a good pulley holder wrench.
If your working alone it's tough to use the 7.3 pulley holder.
If you have help it might not be an issue.
