I was having trouble deciding on heads and pistons for my rebuild. I was looking at Edelbrock RPM 95cc heads or the 75cc heads or maybe even the RPM CJ with 75cc. I would like to be able to run 91 octane and was thinking somewhere between 9.5.1 to 10.1 compression. I would like to use SRP pistons if possible and the cam i will be using is the Comp Xtreme 4x4 270H. I will be buying one of the three heads just dont know which ones and some help would be appreciated . I have had small blocks, 351w/351c but this is my first go at a 466. Thanks
Thanks i will give them a look, what makes them better than the Edelbrocks. How do the Ford Racing CJs compare
They have better casting and a slightly revised port vs the edelbrocks.
If your talking about the SCJ heads currently offered from FRPP those are a CJ port and revised valve angles so you need to decide that BEFORE you buy pistons cause it takes different ones then the standard valve reliefs of the above mentioned heads.
Also if your considering those I would suggest the Kaase P51 heads instead. Jon developed the SCJ heads for ford and then revised and improved on that design to make the P51 heads he now sells.
But with that said, if your going with a non stroker and non race engine you would be better off with the TFS streets or even the edelbrocks IMHO.
Thanks for the info. I have decided to change my build yesterday after being stuck in my neighborhood due to ice/snow and being in the Ozarks i live down a hill and i just spun my tires backwards all the way down in my 93 F-250 2wd , 460, 5pd and had to drive home in reverse. I am now selling my truck and looking for a 78-79 Bronco that i will be putting the 466 into, im done with 2wd in my trucks and now my build will be geared toward building for a 4x4
Then definitely stay away from the bigger heads like the SCJ and P51s. They are great heads but huge ports that are a little slow in the lower rpm ranges.
