pcv/idle question

hey guys....
what would cause the pcv valve to pop/push out of the valve cover grommet ?

also having some rough idle and fuel mileage issues, can these be related ?

my best guess, not a very good one lol

i had something like that happen when my engine blew. some how the engine was building up an extreme amount of pressure and would blow it out after a couple minutes when it was warmed up. and my engine was toasted, somehow burned a whole completely threw the #8 piston. dont know how that causes pressure to build but thats what happened

As 302Flareside put it, there is high pressure in the head, and reluctantly enough it pushed the PCV valve out to help relieve pressure, before blowing gaskets and seals.

I would suspect the PCV valve could be failing, in which case I would remove and check to see if it's operating correctly. If you shake it and it doesn't rattle, either clean it out with some carb cleaner, solvent, etc. or get a new a Motorcraft one to replace the old one with.

I would relocated the PCV to the tree. Thats where it is factory on my truck. At some point Ford relocated it there.

I moved my PCV vacuum hose to the center vacuum tree on the intake a few years ago. I think somewhere around 1994 Ford made the change at the factory.

I suspect your PCV is plugged up. Combine that with a fair amount of crankcase pressure from blow-by, something has to give.
