Hello folks. I would have rather not made a new thread for this, but nothing else seems to be working. I just registered here (I hang out on My350Z.com a bit) and did so because I'm trying to help my boss "mod" his new truck. After getting no response from the not-so-helpful people at FordF150.net and realizing that there are no classifieds at F150forum.com, I am just going to throw this out here and see if anyone cares to comment.

My boss just bought a 2010 F-150 Crew Cab with the Platinum trim package in Red Candy Metallic. He did this soley because he loved the interior of this pkg, but he does not like the tailgate (aluminum looking thing) or the wheels. What I'd like to know is if it is very common for people to trade for these wheels/tailgate. I suppose this is a bit of a feeler. The thing is I'm not familiar with the F-150 community so I don't even know if I'm barking up the wrong tree.

If anybody has any comments, please share. Flame if you must, point me towards the correct place to post, tell me to go to the dealer, whatever. I just would like some feedback.

You might have better luck posting in the classifieds on here (see the toolbar at the top of the page), or craigslist in your area.

 

Your two best bets are eBay & Craigslist. A lot of folks swap out their OEM rims for aftermarket rims that they like--even more so with the folks that lift their trucks. So finding OEM rims is rather easy.

I am not sure what your boss does/does not like about the tailgate, but these are a bit harder to find. Some folks swap their tailgate for fifth-wheel friendly gates (like these). Here again, these are often listed on eBay or Craigslist.


And, tell your boss to sign up here on FTE. This is the most active Ford truck related forum on the world wide web. There is a wealth of knowledge here, and plenty of folks are willing to share their modifications. The latter will give your boss plenty of other upgrades & projects.
