unusual heating problem

i got the heat working.dont understand why unless my gauge is all of a sudden reading wrong.with it warm out and the 195 in it it would stay around 190 to 195 when cold 185.put in the 180 wont get warmer than 170.and thats with half of the radiator blocked off.will be putting a 195 back in since it is supposed to run warmer.,again thanks guys

It seems your heater core issue has been solved, congrat's! As far as the motor running to cool, if you have a properly operating TStat, I think that is impossible. I have ran 4 core radiator's out of the Camper Specials with small block Cheby's, the motor would get up to operating temp in the winter, but when the Tstat opens, the water temp drops, repeat as neccessary I think your guage's must be off, or your thermostat's are defective. Overheating is the number one issue usually, not running to cold.
