I have a 99 F450 Powerstroke with an enclosed service bed, I was thinking about putting on a new downpipe from the turbo, straight piping it under the cab and bringing a stack straight up the back of the cab just inside the frame rail. I am wondering how much more noisy it is going to be, and if it is going to DRONE when I am driving.
I have a 99 Cummins clubcab with 4inch exhaust and 6 inch muffler and it drones when I am towing and and running at highway speeds under boost. I am thinking that it is due to the front of the muffler being under the cab on that truck.
I could care less if it is going to be a little more noisy as I like the sound of the turbo and a chipped diesel. (Heck I find my self cracking the window on the Cummins just so I can hear her talk sometimes!)
I just don't care for the drone.
Anyone have any experience with stacks on a regular cab truck?
I was really wanting to do a stack on my truck but with the short bed and the tool box there isnt much room for it. I have ridden in a f350 with a single stack and it sounds good when you open her up
I have a little over 7 inches space between the cab and bed on my truck. Plenty of room for a stack. I want it inside the rail so my kids don't reach out and touch it, and so I don't do the same thing. So far I have found the downpipe for 75 bucks. Looks like I have to order the clamp/holders for the stacks online.
