the problem is that the engine when is cold it won't start, first I change the glow plugs, that din't fix it, then I change the glow plug relay and still the same, I don't know what else to do please help, and thanks for reading
Welcome to FTE. Let's start with the basics. From your post, it sounds like it does start when warm? Is there a certain magical temp that the no start becomes a problem?
When you are cranking the engine and it's not starting, do you have any smoke coming out the tailpipe? Grab a volt meter or test light and check the 2 large posts on your GPR. One should be hot all the time since it's hooked up to the battery. The other large post should show voltage for a few seconds up to 2 min. when the key is first turned on. If you're not getting voltage, we'll need to test the smaller posts on the relay.
For future reference, we have a 7.3 diesel section located further down the main forum listing that will be more useful when asking motor specific questions like this. We'll get this thread moved there for you so you get more responses from people with the same motor.
Have you tried plugging in the engine heater over night? Another thing to tried is to turn the key to start and wait for about 45 seconds and then try and start the engine.. Are you over due on a oil change. ?
You need to check your batteries and see what voltage you have while cranking. Once you know for sure you have enough power. Just because is spins, don't mean it's spinning fast or strong enough
witch one of the batteries should i check the voltage from, and how can i know whitch batery is broken and thanks for all the help, i really apriciated
Chances are, if one is bac, both are bad. They seldom fail by themselves as that work as one big battery instead of two smaller ones. I would check both, but if you only want to check one, I would check the pass. side.
one more thing when before i replace the glow plug relay it was giving me reading in one of the big **** and both of the litle ones and the brown big whire is wrounded with the key on, and with the new one is duing the same thing
If I understand you right, you should have power on both of the big post when the key is on, but remember, it is only for the first minute or so after the key is on. Be sure you are checking the right relay as they are two of them near the same place.
