04 F150 5.4 fuel gauge not working???

Disconnect connector C434 by gas tank, resistance to sender should be between 30 and 150 ohms. The higher reading will be for a full tank. 0 ohms would be shorted and infinity would be open sender. Check papa tigers pictures for a picture of the circuit. For rear windows, make sure back windows aren't shut off. Also, Check where the wire loom bend inside the rubber cover between the door and the door post. Sometimes the wire breaks at the bend area inside the cover. Yellow/blk and red/blk wires, power rear windows. Also check one touch relay for open condition.

fuel gauge issue
if the 2004 is the same as the 2006, you may want to check the 10 wiring harness behind the plastic cover, underneath the drivers side door on the frame rail. that waterproof connector gets all corroded and alot of crap runs through that harness.
mine actually melted, and cost my 500 bucks to pinpoint the problem and repair.
Good luck

I 2nd Mr.Rogue (mine is 2007).
Truck was sitting for a week last year. Started it up and fuel gauge went past E. After a day or so it started working again....until last week.
So last week the gauge starts doing the same thing as last year. I let it go figuring maybe I'll get lucky again this time around. No go. The battery died last night so this time I went hunting....
After reading posts on this forum I went straight to the connector on the frame rail under the drivers side door. When I unplugged it the problem was pretty apparent. One of the wires pins were corroded whereby it was broken right off. Then I could hear something....sizzle...sizzle....it was the connector melting right in my hand (ignition was OFF at this point). Spliced the offending circuit and VOILA! gas gauges works!
Thanks to all who posts in forums such as this. Not the 1st time thsi has saved me a trip to the garage/dealer!
Cheers!
