i just jump into my ford SD 250 4x4 and head over to my father-in-laws and jump into the F-450, there's no way on gods green earth that beetle would not get stuck in the snow around here!

My old VW bus never got stuck, even if it was miserable to drive due to the lack of cabin heat. It did have snow tires. I would be waved thru chain checkpoints along with the 4x4's.
Somehow, rear engine RWD does better than front engine FWD in snow, particularly on grades because of the weight shift to the rear when going uphill. Many FWD vehicles have trouble making it up my street in winter unless they chain up.

Those old Beetles would go through most anything. Of course...everyone did notice there was only about an inch or so of snow on the ground.
