my OD lights just started to blink, when i'm driving it, it won't shift to second unless i let up on the gas, then when i give a little more gas in jumps into passing gear. after i got the car home the shifter won't go into park. help. its a 95 EB explorer.
Well if it was like my truck, you definitely have a transmission problem. I have a 97' F350 and mine did the same thing, got it to the shop and was told my coverter was out. What you may want to do is disconnect the battery for 15 minutes and fire it up again. This should reset the computer and it should shift fine again. THe bad part is it won't last forever and it will need to be fixed. Don't panic until the quote comes, I ended up paying 2 grand for mine but it's diesel powerstroke. Hope this will help
thanx for the info guys. will give it a shot and hope for the best. is it common for this to happen all of the sudden? cause everything was working great. no warning at all.
How many miles do you have on the vehicle? My did it at 90k and now I am having troubles once again. I don't believe it is too common, but it does just happen all of a sudden. I have been told on the larger trucks like mine the tranny is just getting broke in at 100k or so. I didn't know what was wrong until I asked a buddy and he is the one that told me the trick. They also say to first drain the tranny and converter and put new fluid in. Sometimes that will correct the problem. If it doesn't work, take it in and get the codes pulled.
it's got 94k miles on it. disconnecting the battery didn't work. i had the fluid and filter changed about 2 months ago. guess i'll have to have the codes pulled and hope for the best.
