alright i tried looking and talking to people but i could not find anything specific enough but i guess i could be trying to be too specific but ANYWAYS my 1992 bronco will take a few cranks to start after driving to a store and leaving it for a hour or so (but it will always start, it is just "embarrassing"to be in a parking lot with friends who are "lame" chevy enthusiasts and get crap from them.) but in the morning in 30 degrees and under it starts like no other i thought that it was supposed to be the opposite but hey its me so nothing goes the way its supposed to it has a new battery so don't think it is that i am just wondering if any of you have had an issue like this that it was just an easy fiwire or something like that) any input would be great thanks.
Id start with a basic tune up. Plugs, wires, fuel filter but it could be that slight "contraction" when the weather cools off that's giving you a better spark. Take an afternoon and check and clean all of your grounds and ignition connections use some electric parts cleaner and di-electric grease
alright ill give that a shot but quick question how could i get to the back 2 spark plugs on the passenger side i have fairly large hands and i've tried and did not succeed in even reaching the wire would it be easier to go from underneath or ?????
The last two between the A/C bulkhead and the engine are a PITA. Fortunately, my wife's hands are small enough and she doesn't mind getting dirty... and just leave it alone... its true in almost every sense including he one I meant here.
As to the hard starting once it has warmed up, you could have a dying ECT sensor. Have a look at This thread. The reasons have been discussed many times before. And don't necessarily expect this issue to trigger a fault or a code with the EEC computer.
haha every one on here are very knowledgeable and funny dang i'm glad i found this site.
i will most likely have someone look at that since i have no idea where the ECT sensor is and i definitely would not know how to test it or change it i'm more on the tinkering side haha. but i still like to know what is going on with my truck and if it is easy i will probably attempt it but if it is something that i have to disconnect wires and take something off thats not always in my capabilities. thanks
The ECT sensor is mounted in the water neck above the T-stat. It threads in like most thermal block sensors. It has one three-wire connector and a wire pigtail. Testing it is more tedious. I may be simpler to just replace it unless you can remove it and put it in the oven while you take resistance readings from it.
I'd put a torch on a work bench and slowly move the sensor closer. Actually just buy a new one 20 bucks and about 10 min of work that any one can do. Just make sure the engine is cool before removing the old one
"Just make sure the engine is cool before removing the old one"... LOL!... "Now lets replace that radiator cap" (after a two hour run on start/stop traffic)... WOSHHH!!!!
hey i just put in the ECT sensor in today and it does not help with the starting issue that i have been having if it is warm it will start or if it is really cold it will start but if i just drive a mile park for an hour or two it will take a few cranks if that helps out.
