Hey guys. So ... last time I posted, I had 3 broken GP's stuck in the head. The 5 GPs I did have, were working good. Then ... they stopped working so good. One of the 5 GP's went out. Turns out ... it was the last "Champion" brand that the previous owner put in. (I figure this was probably due to only 5 GP's having the 12 volts applied, leading to a bit of over voltage maybe). Needless to say ... yup ... that tip broke off as well.
After a few expletives were let out, I tried to think of what needs to happen. 3 of the burned out plugs, are on the driver side block.
So ... how big a job is it to pull a head on a 6.9 diesel? I've done most things on trucks, but I've never mucked around with timing or removed a head. I consider myself to be pretty handy. How hard a job is it to remove a head? I'm considering doing it. It's either that or it's time to sell the truck and get a newer one.
