ok need 2 get some things straight in my head. its my understanding the the oil in the hpop is not conected in any way 2 the oil in the rest of the motor? so when i change my oil am i supposed 2 change the oil in the hpop? how often?
The HPOP is connected to the rest of the oil. Engine oil just passes thru the pump and reservoir on it's way to the injectors. You don't need to change it.
You can change it just to get more of the oil out plus help diagnose drainback issues but it's unnecassary as it is the same oil. You do better to go Synthetic and your injectors will thank you for it.
I knew a guy here that changed his every time. He swore because it was a hydraulic injection system that it should use good hydraulic fluid so that's what he did. He'd suck out the reservoir and refill it with hydraulic fluid. I suggested once to use synthetic tranny fluid but he thought it would be too thin for our temps, um, normal temps here.
I saw that old guy on the side of the road the other day. I should have stopped to say hi.
I'm not kidding about this. you can't fix stupid!!!
In answer to the OP question, it is pumped into the oil reservoir on top from the low pressure oil pump, goes through the high pressure pump to the injectors then gets sprayed out the little spouts into the top of the head where it drains back to the oil pan. It's all the same oil.
To the OP: 99.9% (this percentage calculated mathematically by TOP scientists and engineers ) of us here DO NOT bother to change the HPOP oil... as it circulates through anyways
