The 5.0 had a MAF and the 5.8 did not, what do I need to do to put the MAF on the 5.8? the 5.0 harness has so critter damage (sitting for 10 years) so I would rather use the 5.8 harness.
Thanks Jim
Thanks Jim

you will need a 95 F150 5.0/MAF/4R70W wiring harness. the 95 5.8 would have been speed density efi and wont work on your truck.
you are also going to need a 5.8/4r70w flexplate. the 5.0 flexplate can not be used on the 5.8 and the 5.8/e4od flexplate also will not work. also the 5.0 y pipe will need widened some to fit on the 5.8.
the 5.0 harness will connect to the efi 5.8, the knock sensor is the only thing that wont be used so wrap it up and tuck it out of the way. also be sure to use the 5.0 computer, dont try and run anything else.

Hey what is your feelings about the lower hose supplying coolant to the oil filter?
Thanks again Jim

the 302 computer being MAF doesnt care what size motor you have in there relativly speaking. although it wouldnt hurt to have a dyno tune to get it spot on and squeek a bit extra out of it and be more efficent.
none of the efi stuff off of your donor should be used except for the injectors perhaps. the wiring and computer are speed density.
that lower hose is going to an oil cooler and is a great feature if you plan on towing and offroading. If your not planning on needing that then remove it and sell it to me :-). it will require you to run an oil filter from a 89-91 5.8 model which is a longer oil filter then what is currently on there with the cooler in place.
good luck , great swap, you will really like the 5.8 for sure.

I have been under the weather the swap is 1/2 done front ends are off both trucks. 302 is on it's way to the scrap metal yard and the 5.8 is ready to be pulled. I go to work and everything is just sitting there. Maybe this weekend

Almost done
351 is installed wired, and almost ready to start. It was a lot easier than I had expedited. The only issue I'm up against is the emissions system. I live in a place where there is NO SMOG inspections. I have plugged the back of the heads, gutted the smog pump. How much do I need to hook up for the computer to work right. During the swap a lot of the vacuum line broke, and I don't care about a few codes showing up, I just want the engine to run good. BTW I'm going with stock exhaust manifold, y pipe to muffler.
