Ya, I don't worry about the speed verus MPG, I pull my camper at 70mpg. It just feels like the 'sweet' spot RPM wise. It just drives me nuts to go slow and in CA its really hard, like that song 'I can't drive 55'!! I haven't tested enough yet but I got 11.5 mph last time I pulled my camper but some of it was with the wind. I think the reburn on my TW helped! Looks like you could use some air bags.
Glad to here you made it Evan. Be glad you missed the storms a bit north with all the snow. Fullcrew that's not OBS ****, he had his top on what are talking about.

I agree, 70mph seemed to be the best speed RPM-wise, more power on the hills and keeps the EGT's down better, plus not too fast so you can still kick down to OD if needed and not over-rev the engine.
And I agree I need airbags...

Yes, we are very glad we missed the storms. The weather was clear in the morning we left OK city and that night they got a foot of snow... So we are very thankful we didn't get stuck in that.
Rranch was talking about having to shim the throwout bearing or something to use a 42 on a powerstroke, something about it not fitting right and that's why they switched to the 47???
Just want to make sure the 42 will fit properly. That would be easiest for me since I already have the 42 and t-case from the '88
But if you want to replace the 42's sleeve for the throwout, you have to dissasemble the trans.
on the 47 it's installed diff and built a bit tougher case wise.
The throwout for our trucks just sucks in general. not much you can do.
Well hopefully I'll get the trans swapped when the weather gets nicer in a few months... once our federal tax return comes back I should be able to buy most of the parts I need.
