V-10 Archives
As a new owner, I am, of course, quite enthusiatic and happy with my purchase and have returned to this V-10 forum interested in other's impressions and reflections on this motor.
I decided to go back to the V-10 archives and read the posts when this 2005 V-10 came out. There is a wealth of information, stories, and discussions and debates available to those who are interested. I would encourage anyone interested in the V-10 to go back and read some of the older posts.
In particular, I gleaned alot of info from three guys who purchased 2005's brand new and were real brain trusts and true enthusiasts for this motor. I think it was their enthusiasm for the 2005 motor, in particular, that resulted in me buying my present 2005. I was wondering if these guys were still around and if they still had their V-10's. They were: WRENCH, CAPTCHAS, and FREDVON? Thanks to these three guys and many others, I am now enjoying my truck.
Fredvon4 we haven't heard from in quite a while, he is military and I think he was on his way to some undisclosed location last I heard. I don't think he sold it, but I really have no idea.
Wrench, he stops back once in a while. I think he had enough of stupid questions, or just didn't have the time to fully participate any more.
As to your "new" V10, congratulations
I would love to get a 3-valver, especially a 2005-2007 (before the nose of the truck turned ugly)

However, it looks like I am going to keep my 2001 forever, and as soon as I have the $'s, it's going to get some sort of upgrade. 3-valve heads and forced induction? I don't know, but it'll be unique whatever it is.
I have to agree with you on the nose of the newer Ford super duty trucks. I actually liked the pre-2005 noses the best but the 2005 vintage designs were good too.
I know truck builders like to appeal to the macho side of the consumers, but the new front grilles just went overboard, in my opinion. It looks like the Ford designers were trying to make the superduty look like a Peterbilt and got the proportions all wrong. But, truck design is a very personal thing and, I'm sure, many folks just love the new ones.

The only thing I'm looking at is the 2002-up headlights for my 2001. Just to change something

I was looking at my truck in profile just yesterday coming out of a grocery store and really noticed the droop of the hood, compared to the 2008+.
More aerodynamic overall, less like pushing a brick wall through the air.
