hey, my dads 1999 ranger is screwing up, im not sure on its size of the engine but its a v6, also it looks like the plugs and wire's are original, could that be the problem for the check engine light. Also the truck seems to shake and sputter some times to, most of the time when its in reverse.
Without the code numbers we cant do much to help. Engine and tranny info will be needed to go with that info.
Harbor freight, autozone (online) etc have some decent readers for cheap these days. Or try to sweet talk a mechanic with a case of beer to run them for you.
i was talking to my friend today and his dads a mechanic and has the reader and said he would do it free of charge, but have to wait until sunday
Kick ***! Be sure to write down the actual code numbers and post. You might still consider that case of beer, this might be someone you want to help you again in the future.
the only way i could get the case of beer for him is illegally lol, im only 16 :P but im pretty sure my dads gunna pay him.
and this summer if i plan on rebuilding my motor he said he would help me out and for more than half price discount
You can always say, "thanks man, heres a $10 for a case for helping me out" I always appreciate the gesture and am MUCH more likely to help out in the future. What you will eventually learn is anyone that has a trade skill, (cars, drywall, tattoos, etc) have people asking them for free help/work constantly. Usually we CAN hook someone up and its those that show some appreciation that we continue to help in the long run!
