I didn't get a chance to drive mine either my uncle parked it in the back yard some 30 years ago and thats where it sat till I rescued it just under two months ago. Here what it looked like than.
But I hate to say I actually like your old aluminum slots better ( except for the fake knock off centers on them ) . I don't care for the newer style rims on the old trucks. But I'm sure a lot of guys hate a lot of things I'm doing to my pile of parts too!
I wanted something that i didn't have to clean every week. My mustang is a bitcccchhhh to keep clean. My black Lab like to mark his tires every time i get home. lol
Hmm....mine was towed home. After I replaced the ICM, it ran for a while. Then I blew the 283. It sat that way for a few months, pulled it out, sat for another 5 years. Last year I built the 289, found a 4-speed and dropped em in. We wired it up, and I have been driving/fixing stuff every since. Most recently I replaced the whole front end from a donor truck. Next up is a drop axle and lowering the rear.
since i got the truck...Lets see?? i`ll put it this way, there`s not one panel on the truck that hasen`t been modified

Got my panel last March.Since I have installed a Volare frontend, 9" rear, motor mounts, transmission crossmember and rebuilt the rear springs. Hope to be drivable by summer.
Josh, it's Palisade green and it's actually the original color. When I found the color behind the gas tank, I thought it was sea mist green because the color charts only showed that as the light green, but it turns out that for 1950 it was replaced by Palisade green. The only company that I found that has the formula is Sherwin Williams and their Martin Senour brand (NAPA)
Joe, Do you know when and where "Edith" was built. I think that my 1950 F2 is the same color but we can't read the color code stamped into the firewall. What was the color code on your truck?
I just came across the picture of your truck in yellow. I like it! What color is that? Also how did the paint hold up on the running boards over the exhaust. Would you share some pictures of it from below?
I have a couple problems to deal with on my 1950 F2 before I put paint on it (see attached picture). Results of many modifications from many POs.
One of them shortened the wheelbase from 122" to 112" and added cab-chassis short running boards. My original thought was to lengthen the wheelbase to 114" and add F1 full running boards but after looking at yours there may be other options.
if we all are detailed enough.... this could be the longest (in inches) thread on FTE site
"It all began in a little 5000 watt radio station in Fresno. No wait that was Ted Baxter...

And the saga continues I'm sure I forgot something !
Drove mine everyday for the first three years I owned it. Driven on and off since then but, once I moved to OK I parked it because the bump steer was more pronounced on the bad roads here.
Now I am redoing the entire suspension. Did the rear first then had a house fire and some other things happen and so now I am back to working on it. I hope to have it up and running this summer.
Well, I didn't make the summer deadline last year. Maybe this year...
All that remains is:
filling the radiator, transmission and gas tank.
installing exhaust, bed floor, battery and 2 cables, air ride control system. installing and re-wiring taillights
install seat and some more sound deadening stuff and carpet, door panels, kick panels and headliner.
Then I can start saving to do the body work and paint.
Disc brakes, T5 trans, Water pumps, Fuel pump, and Mirrors
Next is power steering and then radio, carpet and headliner. Its road worthy and I drive it alot in the condition its in.
