Nice work on your truck! You do some nice work.

But I hate to say I actually like your old aluminum slots better ( except for the fake knock off centers on them ) . I don't care for the newer style rims on the old trucks. But I'm sure a lot of guys hate a lot of things I'm doing to my pile of parts too!

Hmm....mine was towed home. After I replaced the ICM, it ran for a while. Then I blew the 283. It sat that way for a few months, pulled it out, sat for another 5 years. Last year I built the 289, found a 4-speed and dropped em in. We wired it up, and I have been driving/fixing stuff every since. Most recently I replaced the whole front end from a donor truck. Next up is a drop axle and lowering the rear.

Joe, Do you know when and where "Edith" was built. I think that my 1950 F2 is the same color but we can't read the color code stamped into the firewall. What was the color code on your truck?

I just came across the picture of your truck in yellow. I like it! What color is that? Also how did the paint hold up on the running boards over the exhaust. Would you share some pictures of it from below?

I have a couple problems to deal with on my 1950 F2 before I put paint on it (see attached picture). Results of many modifications from many POs.

One of them shortened the wheelbase from 122" to 112" and added cab-chassis short running boards. My original thought was to lengthen the wheelbase to 114" and add F1 full running boards but after looking at yours there may be other options.

Thanks,

if we all are detailed enough.... this could be the longest (in inches) thread on FTE site

"It all began in a little 5000 watt radio station in Fresno. No wait that was Ted Baxter...

1995... the saga begins

Trailered home
wife walks out to driveway... shakes her head and returns to house
I should have taken that as a sign.
Took it apart down to the frame
Removed all remaining glass
Sandblasted frame
Soda blasted cab
Sent the front clip to Norway
Scrapped the bed,tailgate,bumpers
Installed ladder bar hung 9”lincoln rear end
Installed volare front end
Fabbed installed engine mounts
Installed 460 /c6 combo
Fabbed transmission cross member
Removed volare front clip
Endured months of volare crap from FTE buddies
Installed mustang ii ifs
Re fabbed engine mounts
Re fabbed transmission cross member
Installed larger disc brakes on MII
Crap from FTE ‘buddies” continues but in MII mode now
Replumbed brake and fuel lines
Installed Mustang fuel tank behind rear end
Replaced all 4 cab corners
Replaced door bottoms in/out
Replaced floor boards and toe board
Removed door handles/locks
Removed cowl vent and right heater vent
Installed bear claw latches and solenoids
Installed caddy seats
Removed caddy seats
Installed Chevy truck seat
Installed Chrysler column
Removed Chrysler column
Installed Ididit column
Installed modified Chrysler p.b. booster
Installed modified Chrysler hanging pedals
Installed Ford Truck parking brake pedal
Installed e-brake cables from Control cable
Installed 460 / C-6 combo again
Installed new fabbed driveshaft
Installed fiberglass front clip (at least 7 times)
Re-design on front cross member for radiator
Installed custom alum radiator/fan/evap
Removed all of the above “installed” parts for frame paint
Painted frame/suspension
Reassembled it all again
Blended in drip rail on cab
Frenched in antenna in cab
Installed 3rd brake light in rear wall
Fitted up running boards and rear fenders
Attached lower fender cuts to cab

Took all that off
Found out that radiator might not fit
Had engine built
Built engine stand
Built engine run in stand
Installed bed
Installed roll pan
Installed wheel tubs
Tried to make all this crap fit together
Installed tailgate

Starting year 17…continuing with body work on cab
Hood, bed,etc..
Waiting for engine run in and return to see
If the dang radiator will fit
And the saga continues I'm sure I forgot something !

later
John

The day I drove it onto the trailer to come home...

And now, 6-months later it's this...

It's got new tires, brakes, changed the hubcaps, custom dash panel, all new wiring and a 360 Big Block/3-speed floor-shift.

Well, I didn't make the summer deadline last year. Maybe this year...
All that remains is:
filling the radiator, transmission and gas tank.
installing exhaust, bed floor, battery and 2 cables, air ride control system. installing and re-wiring taillights
install seat and some more sound deadening stuff and carpet, door panels, kick panels and headliner.

Then I can start saving to do the body work and paint.
