i had the same issue, kept getting worse. i had done a tranny fluid and filter a week or so prior..... well the filter fell into the pan. installed new FORD filter to replace the cheaper aftermarket one that fell out and runs great now

Yea i got an e4od too and had my trans pan gasket replaced a couple of years ago and my mechanic put in a new filter and fluid but its only done it when its freezing cold out about 2 weeks ago motor was still bone cold and i pulled into a parking spot and then backed up to straighten out and thats when it happened. motor was still cold then just went a minute up the street.
