Yeah, I had one built some years back...we really enjoy being able to swim any time we want, without the worry of the weather. This early Feb. I had to shut it down, as the filter bearing broke,(the thingy which holds the filter in place in a high pressure system), and the enclosed element (3'x12") was being forced up and down, causing it to hit the housing from time to time, which could create havoc if left unattended. The replacement parts came in a few days ago, so now all is good! I have a computer-controlled system which has safeguards for that, as well as drains, just in case it blows with no one around. Possibly I should make a new album and post some pics of it?

Sheesh, I'm coming to hang out at your place!!LOL! The wife and I have kicked around the idea of a pool, outdoor one. But, since we're planning on moving in a year or two (I need an outbuilding for a shop), we've put that off until then. I would love to have one. Aren't they a lot of work though? Probably even more for an outdoor pool?

Actually, the type of pool that I have is a lot less work, indoors, or outdoors..mine is a salt generated, weated system, which by using salt generation, there is no need for all that chemical stuff. While it's true that you need to add muriatic acid once in a while, as well as checking your ph balance, (though once you get your new pool balanced, checking is minimal), there isnt much else to do, other than the usual brushing, and vacuuming once in a while.

An outdoor pool would be a bit more work, as some people don't keep their feet clean from loose dirt,(some dirt is unavoidable), plus wind, rain, etc., unless you have a cover made for it. We have a power cover, called "no key,no swim", as it is strong unough, you can walk on it, and the switch to open it is keyed, so no one swims without it! Saves a big worry on grandkids, or anyone breaking into the house and drowns, so I get sued.

Here is the pool manufacturer of our pool...
Viking Pools | Viking Pools ? inground fiberglass pools and spas

I like that idea of the cover. Especially if we were out of town, that would keep the neighborhood kids from getting in there. I'd always be afraid some kid would get in there and drown, and no one would know. I'll keep that link!

Before we had the pool, and room built, we used to have an 'easy set' pool..they are just insanely easy to set up, and a lot of fun! All you need is a level piece of lawn, or ground, (preferbly rock free), some sand, and a decent air pump, (manual, or power) and water! We had a 14' dia, x 4'3" deep,(that's the depth of water, not the pool height). They come with a good ladder, and a good filter, for like, $200.00 bucks, or less. Did I mention they are a lot of fun? Set the pool on the lawn, inflate the ring around the top, (sand if you want a soft side support-optional), and fill 'er up!

Evening all...

CB.. I am glad you can handle the pool gig. I owned a hot tub once.. I am tub retarded.. Dang thing.. everytime I opened the lid, the burn would come on.. I couldt get the PH right for the life of me! LOL! A pool.. we're just looking for more of a disaster! LOL!

Well.. Not sure if it qualifies me as a resident now, but my 2nd to last shipment of horses headed out yesterday and made it before the first load, LOL! 27 screaming monsters down the highway, getting introduced to cold temps! One more load going out tomorrow night! I picked up most of the parts I needed to get the truck up and going, then its down the road for me!

LOL! Especially when you get the 'ol wood stove going, turn on the blower, and the whole room is nice and toasty when you get out.
