i have a 1991 fi150 xlt lariat 5 speed 4x4 with a 5.0 its got 95000. . when i put my truck in 4 wheel drive (hubs in as well) when i mash on the gas it makes a sqeeking sound an the faster i go the faster an more hi pitch it gets. but if i keep my foot on the pedal goin a constant speed it quites down then when i left off the gas it gets loud again. it sounds like my driveline is scraping on something but there is no marks it has a little wabble in it but it looks ok. a mechanic said it was my transfer case but i dunno if it is an i dont wanta replace it an still have that problem o an its got new warn manual hubs an wheel bearings. 15,000 on both
I am not gonna say its not the transfer case but I am thinking more along the lines of a U-joint on the front drive shaft. When you first start going it is under a lot of load until you get to a constant speed and maybe there is less load. Just my thoughts on it, good luck.
hub bearins are fine you joints are as well not loose or warn down i did torque then to be safe. i do have a some oil coming off of my transfer case im not sure on the exact location ill clean it off an put some dy in an then find it. But still makes that this bad sound as if a drill bit would make when you drill through steel an start squeaking
