Well on my way to fixng bent rod due to hydraulic lock, I suspect caused by a head gasket leak, but not sure. Other than rain getting in the test port on top of the air cleaner- (remote likelyhood), or cavitation-which I dont have- what else- dont want it to happen again. Has anyone heard of an injector sticking open allowing engough fuel into the cylinder to cause a hydraulic lock???
i have seen fuel hydrolock a engine, but it was on a commen rail system, injector broke off and filled the cylender with fuel. on mechanical motors a stuck injector wouldent cause a hydrolock because the IP only puts a small shot of fuel to an injector at any given time. . my guess would be coolent. probably a head gasket, but it could be a cracked block or head.
If your hood to cowl gasket is bad, water can and will fill up the top of the air cleaner lid.
That gasket has a channel that makes any water go to either side of the engine instead of draining in on top of the air cleaner.
And given enough time, it will seep in around the bolt and go in the intake.
Off the top of my head, around 20 cc of fluid is all it takes to hydrolock a cylinder.

Yeh- top of aircleaner was covered in water- was just after a night of monumental new weather patterns rain. I suspect the factory test port on the lid may have been at the back side and let water in- will make sure its at the front of the aircleaner and sealed up from now on.
