Didn't get to work on my truck last weekend. I was busy picking and freezing corn from our garden. Not going to get a lot accomplished this weekend either. Tomorrow I'm going to an all day car show so today I at least got this finished.
Finished welding the rollpan. Never did like the way the rear fenders curve up on these trucks so I'm planning on adding a piece to transition from fender to rollpan.

Man I feel your pain. I put a 2006 Mustang GT 4.6L into my 49 ford Convert. I must have taken me 2 weeks just to figure out how to read the wiring diagram ( a book about 200 pages) Finally figured it all out and have a nice highly modified 49 convert.

Currently working on a 49 F1 with a 226--but if that engine fails me I wont havee a bit of hesitation in putting a a 4.6L modular engine

Hi Greg,, I hadn't seen your progress in awhile, so I just went thru your build thread again. Wow, your attention to detail and workmanship is absolutely beautiful. I don't know how you do it. This site has several perfectionists on it and you are most definitely one of them. Very, very, impressive.

Thank you so much. Hoping to at least have this thing moving and in primer by spring but who knows.
I showed this progress on my rollpan thread but forgot to post it on here. Kinda out of order now but oh well.
I was able to transition one fender into the rollpan. I cut away some metal and bent the wire edge to change the curve of the fender.
The curve blended well into the side of the rollpan but the bottom of the rollpan was still lower than the fender.
Here's the patch in place.
I would have to add and blend another piece to eliminate the stepped transition from the bottom of the rollpan to the fender.
Here you can compare both sides.

I just spent some time going back through your build and it's refreshing to see a build where it's not a checkbook build. You're proving that it doesn't take cubic dollars to have a unique truck.
I know that it was a lot of work, but I'll bet that most people would be surprised at the dollar amount that you have invested in building your trucks bed.
Great job...really enjoy following along!!

Thanks Drew. I could never afford to do a restore on most classic vehicles. The cost involved with all the chrome and having to buy so many parts from a catalog would break me. That's why I like custom work. So much newer and cost effective parts can be used. I've also been able to sell a decent amount of parts from this truck and donor vehicles to help. If I can sell the tailgate and fiberglass frontend that came with this Ill be doing even better on the budget.
How is your truck coming along? Are you driving it.

Unfortunately, I'm not driving yet. With all the rain we've had this year I've been spending a lot of time cruising on a yard tractor and my big tractor bush hogging.
I'm making progress, but not as fast as I would like. Lately I've been working on a lot of not very interesting details.
I appreciate your documentation of your build. It takes effort and time to take pictures and post them up along with commentary and I guess I'm guilty of not providing much info about my build lately.
