I really want to work on the old girl, but its so stinking cold, and the 3 feet of snow doesn't help. Thought i would show everyone a couple of pics of her
interestingly enough, my brother in law and i only work on trucks in winter and we are in upstate ny. we got a furnace off craig's list for ken's garage, we put 1/2" insulating board on ceiling and fiberglass in wall. we do a couple outside jobs in the summer to get a tank of fuel oil/year. we work 2 days a week nov through may with temps in the garage in 60's. later in the spring, when we paint, we'll set temp higher and leave furnace on a few days after paint. my f1 is getting body work, box reconstruction and satin black this winter. dick r
This is the first year I have actually been able to work in a garage over the winter...never had heat. I just can't stand the cold. However, this is a very exciting time of the year as we just had our first local swap meet yesterday.
minus 3 this morning when I went to school. Had to run errands around 4:45 and took the truck. It was about 22 degrees and truck started fine. Hadn't run it for about 2 weeks. Last time was to take dead Christmas tree to the dump. Good day to take it on a run, cold but dry, no slush, no wet salty roads,, etc....
I didn't work on mine this week-end, but I did mange to roto-till the garden and put new tires and saddle bags on the motorcycle. Yep, I just jinxed myself for sure!
I can start a wood fire in the garage and get it bearable but the trucks are upstairs in the hay mow with a lot of snow between the barn and garage. I do work on some small stuff but can't take it too long as the floor is so cold you freeze from your knees down.
Hmmmmm....... always wondered what folks were talking about.... garages.... never had one. I finally bought a house that has a carport, now there's so much junk under it I can't even get the truck under there to work on it At least it doesn't get as cold and we usually don't get much ice or snow around here
