Leaking Oil???

Hey guys... I have a problem that is driving me nuts and needs some advise.

I have had a very slow drip from my oil plug on the bottom of the oil pan for a while now and cannot seem to get it to stop. I changed the oli last week and inspected the threads on both the oil pan and the plug. The plug looked a little suspect so I replaced it with a brand new on and it tightened down real good. I filled with oil... 5-40 Motorcraft and went for a drive. Parked her in the garage and after a few days of sitting I had a pretty big spot on the floor. 1/2 quart maybe?

Anyway... this seems like it should be such a simple task but again the plug and the pan threads all seem to be in good shape. I know for sure it is coming out at the plug because I wiped it all down real good and can tell it is not running down the pan fron say a pan gasket or rear main.

Anyone else have this problem? It seemed to present itself once I switched to 5-40 from 15-40. I realy like the 5-40 here in western SD for cold weather starts and would like to continue to use it.

Thanks,

JT

Replace your drain plug washer with a new one. Your local Ford shop can supply you one. I've replaced mine several times due to leaks.
