I just wanted to add something here. Traditionally you would be correct, one slipping wheel could limit the torque to the other wheel and get the truck stuck in many situations.
But all the SRW trucks have the AdvanceTrac system with it's form of traction control. This system is pretty advanced and is capable of braking the spinning wheel to force more torque to the opposite wheel that has traction.
In lots of off-road situations this may not cut it, but it's perfectly adequate for the vast majority of situations you'd encounter in normal driving.
I think the e-locker is a great thing; one I wish I had in my truck. But with traction control this thing does better with it's open diff than my '08 did with it's LSD.
is the AdvanceTrac new with the 11's.. haven't read much talk about it..
only for SRW? I don't think my DRW has it.. (doesn't act like it does)
looks like it was an option on SRW, vans..
Sam
I do not think it was available until 2011. Here's what I can find:

I have never heard of this until 2011, and I can't find anything mentioning AdvanceTrac on anything before now. I know TCS was available on 2008 models but not standard.
My drw has a traction control system of some sort (and a button to turn it off). Not sure if its the exact "Advanctrac" or not. I wish I had a locker. From my understanding if one wheel slips then and LSD cuts power to that wheel. But if your in mud aren't you supposed to power through it? Some movement even if its spinning is better then now movement at all.

From the 2011 Owner's guide:
It has TCS, but it doesn't use the brakes to transfer power like the SRW trucks would. This means no LSD-like action from the TCS system.
I looked into this for my truck and was quoted from a Ford dealer about $2900 to do both axles. This was for a 450 going from a 4.30 to a 3.73 for better fuel economy, but I would think parts and labor would be close the same pricing for your set up. Having Ford do it will probably be more money, but figured it was a safer bet to ensure the integrity of the factory warranty.
Man, $2900 would be pretty tempting to do. My dealer told me it would be around $7000. Maybe I'd better do some shopping around

LS is locked all the time with clutches holding it locked. So if one wheel can't get traction, the other should. But if there is no traction at both wheels, the you're stuck. Even locker won't help there.
When you go around tight corners ( parking lot ) the clutches will allow limited amount of slippage.
I rebuild the ford LSD in my hotrod, reversing the clutches to get 2 more friction faces together to reduce the slippage amount.
I did the FX4 as I liked the sticker lol I did the skid plates e locker and camper certified to get the rear sway bar and heavy duty springs. I also did the carpet delete option
I drove it yesterday and I now have 87 miles on it. 7.3 it's everything j wanted

Those came off right after I bought my truck. Every truck has 'em. I wanted to be different and it looks smoother without the goofy sticker.
