I have a 84 f-150 and I need to know how to pull the door skin off? I tryed but cant seem to figure it out. Im trying to get to my stock speakers to replace them. I posted this in the audio fourm and no one replied So I thought this might be better. O ya I dont have power window or locks.
Pull the screw inside the door grab handle (pointing down) and any others pointing to the outside (there might be one in each front corner and the lower rear). Remove the screw from the center of the window crank and save the plastic disc. Open the vent window just so the latch & the front corner will clear the door panel ("skin" means the sheet metal), then pop the ~6 plastic push-fasteners out by simply pulling around the edges of the panel. When it's loose all the way around, lift the panel out of the window opening and off the inside door handle. If any of the push-fasteners stayed in the door skin, remove them and reinstall them on the door panel in their keyholes.
When you put it back, start with the door handle, and make sure none of the clips for the weatherbelt (at the top of the panel) hang on the door skin - push the the weatherbelt hard against the glass as you rehang the panel. Also, make sure all the push-fasteners are aligned with their holes before you knock them back in.
On all the 80-86's I've ever dealt with, there's only a screw holding the window crank, the rest is all with the push fasteners.
On the 87-96's, there are screws holding the actual panel itself on.

Duh...brain froze... Totally forgot about that one(probably because they're non-existant in my truck).... However, other than those two, I haven't seen an 80-86 with more than that holding the door panel on.

I buddy of mine has one at the top front and another at the bottom front in his '86 panels and we know his dad didn't put them in, so they must be factory, but his is the only one I've seen like that.
My '86 base trim F150 has the screw holding the window crank on, a screw inside the armrest, and a screw on the top front near the vent window, and I know they're all stock.
Screws at the window crank, push tabs all over the interior of skin (just don't break them), and if the skin goes up to the window, you may need to remove the lock button (the push **** by the window) I think it is just 2 screws holding in the speakers, just don't quote me on that.
