choking and splattering

Recently i put a 4 barrel thermoquad with vac secondries on my 351 clev and it runs on Gas , i have the choke fully open at the moment with a cable tie as i dont have heat tube connected to exhaust manifold , think its auto choke set up. since putting this carb on it splatters and resists when trying to excellerate and at times seems to be ok until it gets hot and find this is when it starts getting worse . I have tried adjusting gas mixer screw but dont really have an idea which way i need to be turning as it affects idle speed ,so then i up idle on carby to get it back, any idea whats going wrong.

sounds like a fuel issue to me, so the first thing i would check is fuel filters/lines/pump, could also be bad gas or deposits in the line or tank. I seriously doubt you still have a catalytic converter on the truck, so I doubt that'd be an issue. I had a problem with my truck keeping it's idle, and I changed my fuel filters and blew out my lines, and I haven't had THAT problem since.
