2005 Escape transmission filter

2005 Escape transmission filter
I went to help my brother do some routine maintenance on his 05 4wd V6 Escape toady but we ran into a problem with the transmission.I thought the filter was able to be change like all my other cars but after we took the pan off we didn't find the filter.So does the Escape not have one or does more of the transmission need to come apart.

I don't have the CD4E trans in anything. However, looking that year up in rockauto shows a Motorcraft FT124 filter that looks like this:

Maybe that second link will get you directly to a pic of the FT124 filter. If it times out, will have to try through the catalog page under 2005 Ford Escape Auto trans CD4E Motorcraft
Looks like it has an integral pickup tube. See anything like that?
