I agree with Rick. I have heard from different people on different trucks (to include the Rangers), that the windshield can leak and drip down the (inside the cab) inside the firewall and drip right on it. And you won't even see it w/o removing all the junk in the way. You could remove everything and watch the back wall while your buddy hoses down the windshield with a garden hose.
On our trucks, the dielectric grease should be used on the weather pac seals , not on the contacts ...
I hear ya...Dielectric grease to help provide a barrier. Dielectric Grease will not " enhance" the electrical path from a connector male/female pins. That's a different product.
Final Update: Well guys I got the truck back last night and all is well again. I gotta tell you I was starting to stress a bit through this whole thing. I'm glad that my mechanic is a good friend of mine...he's not billing me any labor on this whole ordeal. He does all my work and we go to church together. He's the one who inspected it before I bought it and he gave me the go ahead. Though I don't think there was anyway of knowing the CPS was bad before hand, short of yanking it out and inspecting it. Did you guys do that before you bought yours...I didn't think so either. He felt terrible about the whole thing. I told him I would definately make it up to him. He said billable parts and labor would have been over 2K for all that he did. He just billed me parts which were new CPS, IPR, wiring harness, ider puller tensioner (It was on its last leg), and a new CPS. I should be covered electronically for a while wouldn't you say. Anyways thank you guys for all your input and advise. I usually try to work on my own stuff if I can but I had just bought this truck and I knew nothing about a diesel truck. I've learned alot this week though just reading all the posts in here. Thanks again and drive safe!!!!!!!!
Glad your up and running.....Regarding FTE...All prospective buyers should "throw it out there" prior to Buy a truck....Kinda wish I did.....NO regrets, but might have made me look even harder for that "right" truck.......F350 CCLB......dreaming...
Not exactly sure but I did look at it and it had "corrosion" on the narrow side of it. He put in the new PCM and it fired right up and he drove it around for a while. He wanted to make sure it was the PCM so when he got back he put the old one back in... no start. I sure missed her while she was gone LOL :-(
Now that I reflect on my "No Start" PCM problem....My Bad PCM had some rust looking discoloration on the outside of it...but at the time nothing to make me think that would be the culprit. I think even though the PCM is Sealed with that rubber molded gasket at the firewall....With enough pressure lets say from a care wash, I would not be surprised that moisture may get to it?
