I have been looking at DPF delete kits and 4" Exhaust but none of the kits inclued the down pipe and when I got a quote from Rudy's it wasn't on there either. My question is isn't it necessary to change that pipe if your put on a 4" exhaust wouldn't it defeat the purpose of the larger pipes down stream. Also I spoke to Gabe at Rudy"s and he recomended the H&S Mini Maxx any input would be a grat help Thank Jim
Yes, it definitely makes sense to change out the DP too. I picked up a ceramic coated 4" DP that decreased the EGTs a touch. The only reason to change out the DP is if you are really concerned with dropping every EGT you can. Other than that, it makes no difference than stock.
Thanks LaxPlaya21. It just makes sense to me that if your going to replace everything else then to get the max efficiency you would replace the factory down pipe. I ordered the H&S Mini Maxx with the MBRP 4 SS exhaust complete front to rear. Thanks Again for confirming what I thought.
I purchased the entire Spartan kit with the 4 inch cat/dpf delete , and considered purchasing the downpipe , but the rep I bought it from said it wouldn't do much , I didn't have the money for it at the time either , in considering it tho , any major positives .? I purchased my kit from Sean, the company is in Connecticut, its off the Spartan website , he was a great help
I purchaced my kit thru Thoroughbred Diesel and they said the same thing about the down pipe. So I cancled the part. I should have all parts by frid. and will install hopefully this weekend.
The stock downpipe has a ridiculous bend in it. The 4" one has mandrel bends, and has to reduce the EGT's. The only way it is worth it is if you are looking to decrease every single EGT possible. If you plan on running real aggressive tunes that elevate the EGT's, or do serious towing then this is a good idea. It will also give a little more exhaust noise.
But you will def not install it, and be like " oh wow, this downpipe has made a huge difference!" because that is not going to happen.
