Hi i have a friend with an 02 f350 with a 7.3 powerstroke, and when its below 35 degrees it wont crank at all. we changed the ignition switch and the starter really. the only way it gets to run is if we put a heater inside the cab and 20 minutes later it turns on. so i dont know what to think. appreciate the help
Do the lights come on, just no starter action? If so, you may pull the starter relay under the dash and check it for corrosion on the terminals. If there is one like it, swap it with another to see if maybe the coil is going bad inside the relay
have the batts been tested, how about corrosion on the batt terminal, had a V10 towed into my shop today due to a bad connection on the negitive terminal. do you have voltage to the starter? to the realy on the fender?
when it will not start...
try turning the key on, then jump the terminal on the fender relay (12v to the small terminal will activate the relay) if that works then its your signal from your ignition thats bad ie: starter relay(fuse box), ingintion switch, wiring.... If not then your starter or realy(fender) is likly bad.
