I have an ongoing problem of no start, but will with starting fluid. I've read a lot here and done a lot of trouble shooting. I am getting fuel shooting out of the drain, wires/connectors and fuses, all look good. when it started with starting fluid, i got no oil pressure on gauge in short run. So i figure its the oil pressure safety switch/sending unit. Any one know where it is located? Also, i don't get any codes on it.
The oil pressure gauge is just an idiot gauge. It doesn't really tell you much.
When you turn the key on, does the WTS (wait to start) light come on for a few seconds then go off? When you try and crank it, is there any smoke coming out the tailpipe while cranking? If so, light or heavy smoke, and what color?
When was your last oil change? Is the oil still full? What oil are you using? Have you checked the oil level in your HPOP reservoir? How many miles on the truck? Are there any modifications to it (chips, tuners, etc.)?
WTS works, cranks, no smoke, 1000 mi on oil (delo), no mods, 250k. I couldn't open the plug but pulled sensor on other side and it was empty, what if its empty?

Reason: update
Fill it up to within an inch of the top with some Delo and see if it starts then. If it does, see if it drains down again.
Also while you're poking around, check to make sure the nut didn't fall off the back of the IPR or make sure the wiring to the IPR isn't burnt or chaffed.
So the reservoir was empty, you filled it up and tried to start? Is it empty again or did it stay full? Did it smoke any while cranking or act or sound any different for a second or two with oil in the reservoir?
I'm no expert by any means, but I'll throw my .02 in. I'm a basics kinda guy, so my first thought would be to check the oil level. If it's low, that would cause a no start.(ask me how I know that) Then I would check the CPS. I had the same issue as you, my truck would start and run for 30 seconds, then die. I eventually replaced the CPS and she fired right up, no problems since. Just be sure not to crank on it to long before you replace the CPS, you could fry the starter. (Again, ask me how I know that) After that, I useless. I don't know if you have done this stuff or not, but I figure that someone should state the little stuff just in case.
I'm a subscriber too.... just out of curiosity, are you able to check your ICP and IPR Duty cycle? Also, do you have a volt meter to read what the batteries are doing? Is your GPR working as mentioned before?
spdmpo says "The oil pressure gauge is just an idiot gauge. It doesn't really tell you much." Well it obviously does. The batteries were good. The starter was good. The pressure gauge didn't go up and it seized the motor while turning it over. Anyone out there know if the pressure gauge works while turning it over?
On mine the oil gauge doesn't register until after it starts. If the engine locked up it might be hydrolocked. Probably from a bad injector dumping into the cylinder. You can pull the glow plugs and see which cylinder has fluid in it.
