It keep overheat everytime start cold.

I know it wrong place but this where I get tons people replies.

It 94 Explorer 4 door with 4.0L V6 OHV with 157K miles.

It gotten worse worse.

It have new radiator because old one were explosives from too much heat and pressure.
New Thermostat because old one make temp gauge say C all times it barely moving little. It turn to be bad temp gauge.

Now here interested it doesn't use coolant very much it just little like 1k miles 1 cup of coolant. It smoke white and everybody smell little coolant.

Everytime I start cold and drive. Temp gauge would start climb to 230-240oF then drop back to 160 then up 200 and stay. Few times it start climb 230oF then turn heat it drop back 190-200oF

Sometime I could notice lag on highway when it start hot it start slow and you push gas pedal more it like you are tow then immediate it back to normal.

EGR is unplug because it keep open all time and mpg from 20-23 mpg drop 14-15 mpg.

If it help you. DDFEE sensor where rubber hose to exhaust manifold. It pop off when I make 280 miles in up of Michigan where tons of HILLS. It start bog sudden no power it like you tow 5K lb behind V6. It got little hot. That was 4K miles ago.

My neighborhood test with coolant pressure tester he pump up to 18 psi and wait 5 min it doesn't moving. That was when engine was warm like 180oF something.

My Dad who is Ford lab tech he say it could be intake manifold leak but want wait until Spring to see if it gotten worst.

I would say leaking/bad head gasket. Go to local parts house and get test kit to check for hydrocarbons in your coolant.

That sounds to me like you got a defective new thermostat. First thing I would do is install another new thermostat, a different brand this time.

You MIGHT have other problems in addition to that, but I would start there.

It could be a bad thermo, but with it using coolant and the above quote this is normally a tell tale sign of bad head gasket. Also check the color of your oil to see if you can tell if you are getting any water or coolant in your oil.

There's nothing unusual about white smoke in cold weather. The cup of coolant you're losing in 1000 miles is not going to make much white smoke. That coolant could be leaking anywhere, not unusual in an older vehicle.

White smoke with "sweet smell of coolant" = bad head gasket. Since your heat gauge was inoperative and I assume you were having cooling issues due to the fact you changed you radiator...I am thinking you overheated the truck at some point. Buy the hydrocarbon test kit and check your coolant for hydrocarbons. It's an easy test. Also....oil...is it a muddy brown?

Oil isn't muddy I alway watch oil color before I feel it time change oil

No water on oil cap so that strange.

I can see discolor on coolant when look at radiator with cap off. It look like oil on street when rain those rainbow.

I can go to store to check hydrocarbon.

your coolant could be too diluted letting it freeze and blocks of ice are blocking passageways in the system letting it over heat? just an idea

Could be but I check it rated to -10oF so I don't know.

But I will try get coolant tester pressure and leave for 2 hours to see.
