I just got my C6 in my truck freshly rebuilt. its behind a 360fe in a 71 ranger 2wd. the problem is that reverse only works if i floor the gas then it onlt goes a few inches to a foot or so. also if I put it in drive it goes forward in first shifts week to second but wont go in third at all. I have checked fluid level, and vacume lines everything checkes out fine alittle to much fluid as a matter of fact. I have a thread in the tranny forum just like this looking for help. Anything you hav is great, Im starting to get desperate to get this done.
I would talk to the rebuilder, something aint right. The C6 is a soft shifter, you can install a shift kit if you have to feel it snap, but I suggest not to worry about that issue. You'll get used to it in a bit.
I called the guy today he said to drop the tranny and bring it in he'll lock at it. I told him I'll bring the truck in and he can take the tranny out himself I've done it once to many already because he didnt give me the right torque converter the first time.
Before you go pulling the tranny...did you try replacing the vacuum modulator?? and/or check the vacuum line from the engine compartment to the modulator? I had a similar problem with my 1967 F-100. It wouldn't shift into 3rd, and 1st to 2nd was erratic. It acted just like there was some major mechanical problem with the gears. I found out that the tranny's vacuum modulator rubber hose to steel pipe had fallen off in the engine compartment area.
I checked the vacume lines and everything seems ok the best i could tell also I would think the moulater is brand new with the rebuild the guy just did, but the I had a motor rebuilt 2 summers ago and that guy didnt replace anything so who realy knows you cant get much quality work anymore.
