still sputtering and missing???

My 2000 V10 Excursion with 150k miles has been running rough on idle and under acceleration occasionally and it is getting worse. I cleaned the MAF sensor, and replaced the fuel filter, and it did not help. So I bought a new set of COP`s off ebay and replaced all 10 with the new COP`s and new plugs. It is getting worse and no check engine light has come on. Anyone have any idea what could be the problem?

Are you getting good fuel pressure in the rail? Does it run rough only when it's cold/when you first start it, but goes away when the engine warms up?

It started out running rough when cold and then cleared up like you said, but now it runs rough at start up and all the time...sounds like its not firing on all 10. I don`t know if the fuel pressure in the rails is good...any idea how can I test for that?

typically, if it's rough when cold, but clears up when warm, it's the IAC valve.

When you changed your COPs, did you replace the boots as well? Sometimes old boots could have cracks that can cause a short if water gets into the spark plug hole.

There is a Schraeder (spelling) valve on the rail on the passenger side. You can hook up a gauge to that. Someone can chime in on what pressure you should have.

I also pulled and cleaned the IAC before doing the plugs and COP`s...there was not much carbon build up on it. It ran the same after I cleaned it.

The new COP`s that I installed came with new boots and there was no moisture. I will hook up a gauge tomorrow when I get home from work and let you guys know what pressure it has. Thanks for the help!

You'll need a fuel pressure gauge, not a tire pressure gauge.

are you certain the IAC is actualy working thou ???

might be better off to swap it out for a new one if you continue to struggle finding a cause.

have you changed your fuel filter? My f150 did a similar thing but I had over 100k on the stock filter.
