can some one let me know where I can Find A heat A/C control pannel for my 1970 Sport cutom. The top lever broke. Have been having a hard time locating anything for my system. It is the original factory Air and heat box under the dash.
wrecking wardes here do not keep any thing past 15 years. I have also encountered an electrical problem with headlight function. I have changed out the dimmer switch along with headlight switch and while driving my headligts will go out at randum. all other lights stay on. They do come back on but at there own timming.
I suspect that you could get a used non-A/C control unit from a wrecking yard and use the lever from it to replace your broken one.
Sorry, you cannot, this method will not work. The upper/lower steel levers attach to the control panel's metal divider plate using plastic bushings...when the bushing(s) snap, the lever(s) flop around.
The bushings were not available, only sold with the control panel. These plastic bushings are affixed to the metal plate in such a way that they cannot be removed w/o breaking them.
The levers used with A/C are not the same without A/C and were also not available separately. The OP thinks his lever is broken, but it's most likely not the lever, it's those fracatta bushings.
C8TZ19980A .. A/C Heater Control Panel Assy-Use with factory installed Integral A/C / Obsolete / Fits: 1968/72 F100/350.
Several years ago, I found one of these NOS for an FTE member, and that was it then...and now, because...
i restored a 1970 ranger xlt back itn 2001 and gave my stock parts that i replaced to a guy who went to carlisle, hershey and other swaps.surprise,i never heard from him again.the parts you need were part of the package i gave him .i'll go to his place tomorrow and see if they are still there. i went with vintage air and left the factory stuff for him to sell.keep your fingers crossed, maybe he still has them.
Just because you cannot doesn't mean I cannot, or the OP cannot...you know nothing about my fabrication skills or his. I've made many things work over the years in ways they were not meant to when the parts I needed were not available.
raj, sounds like sandman has a solution for you. If he doesn't have the control, I can probably find one for you here and ship it to you as I have two wrecking yards close to me which usually have plenty of Bumpside trucks, and I frequently find one with factory A/C.
When you have the can do attitude is what keeps these old classic going..Or a pocket full money.. JB-weld has helped as a fix all many times through the yrs. Where as it's junk or fixed..my2cents

when i noticed the issue i did pull unit and found that the lever was broken just befor the pivit point and bushing area. any idea on what would cause the headlights to flicker, this problem is verry intermitten and sems to have a mind of its own. not effected by weather.
I had the same problem and tracked it down to the wiring harness plug in the engine compartment where it runs along the fender inner wall apron then plugs the to the head light pigtail harness. I Clean the plug contacts and added some dialectic grease and never had any more problems..
