Hey All,
I have a 2007 F150 Lariat loaded except for heated seats. Is there a way I can address this want? Seems to me I would have to find another seat and install the heated seat switch. The switch I'm not to worried about, but the seat itself might be hard to come by. The winter in Upstate NY has been really harsh this year. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Yeah you would have to purchase a whole new seat and the only place I could think to get one would be from Ford. I don't there is an aftermarket product for something like this but I could be wrong.
You can go with heated seat covers as well. Look into Katzkin and other aftermarket seat cover companies.
Also, heated seats can be added to most any leather upholstery. The guys that did my stereo install also install heated seat elements. You retain your factory leather. The element is a small 12by12 or 16by16 heating coil sheet that they place beneath the leather on top of the padding. Some simply plug in to your 12v supply (cig lighter) and some are hard wired. Check with your local car audio/window tint/or auto upholstery installer.
A quick google search came up with this as the first site: Seat Heater for Cars and Trucks from HeatedSeatKits.com
Due to my hip surgeries (I'm only 35) and Titanium hip parts I do get a cold tush. I have tried the heated seat cushions...they suck! It looks like their is electric pads I can insert under my factory seats that can be hard wired with switches, I think I will try this.
Punxsutawney Phil better not see his shadow or else! My cheeks can't take this cold for another six weeks of Winter ;(
That link I provided you with is exactly what you're looking for then. Their kits are hard wired and install directly between the cushion and the leather. Looks like you can get the seat bottom AND seat back heated as well.
On the other hand, the more temporary solution, and less expensive would be this: Heated Car Seat Covers, Auto Seat Covers, Heated Seat Toppers at Brookstone
You can get heated elements built into them, that plug into the cig lighter, for an additional $70. That option would put you at about $305 for both seats.
Does anybody know if the wireing for seat heaters exist under the seat? I know many of the additional elec hookups are in the main harness and are just not used. My overhead head rail console has the wires for a DVD

Good question. I would like to find that out myself? I would assume the wiring harness under the seat has the heated seat connection there, not sure though without more investigation.
I will try and find a link, But I know they make a heater replacement kit for my Volvo's seats. All Volvo seats are factory heated. The kit should just require standard wiring.
Put two in the '06 Mustang this weekend and they work very good. Switches blend in nicely with the Ford dash. The other two will go in the F150 in another week or two. My biggest concern was with the Occupancy Sensor (part of the airbag system) in the passenger seat bottom. Worked carefully so not to disturb the sensor and everything was fine when I finished.
