I have a 95 F-250 with a smf replacement and a lot of gear rollover noise.
However the noise goes away with the clutch engaged or the idle speed is
raised to around 800 rpm with clutch disengaged and transmission in neutral. I see in past threads about using an AIC to increase speed. What is this and how is it insalled ?
If you have a chip you can possibly have it burned to run a higher idle.
Gear Rollover is kinda part of the game.
Mines gone away for the most part. Every now and then you can hear it. You can really hear it when I put on my low idle tune, which just eliminates the purpose. haha.
I dont suggest using a home made AIC to ramp up your idle to fix this issue.
The best way to combat the issue is to pour an extra qt or 2 of trans fluid in to help muffle the sound.
It works.
Mine was defining loud at first, but its much better now.
Thanks for the information. I allready have extra fluid in transmission. The noise goes away with a little more idle speed so I was hoping there was a way to increase it. The motor is stock.
