Hey,
I have posted this concern before, but I thought I did not have an original carb. The carb that the guy who owned the truck before me put on sits 90 degrees the wrong way. I had to hook up an aftermarket cable gas pedal because the old one would not work. I finally looked all over the carb and it is a Motorcraft (A-6 was only other marking). I looked this up and found it goes on 63-66 ford trucks. Im stumped. I would much rather use the original linkage as it is still all there...mine is rigged to say the least now. It does have headers on it but I am almost positive the intake is original...could that possibly be the problem? I did not think that an after market intake would take a 1brl...there is no adapter on it. Didn't get a chance to take any pics this morning. I could post some tomorrow. Any help would be great.
Maybe someone before you put the carb together wrong? look at it and see if the base of the carb could be unscrewed and turned. thats the only thing i can think it might be.
I think pictures would be crucial for this problem. Even guys like me, who aren't experts, could compare the setup to theirs and maybe give some feedback.
Ok, here are some pictures of my carb and intake. Carb is 90 degrees the wrong way. Pretty sure its the original intake and it is a motorcraft carb. Just don't know if its the right model. Obviously, I don't think it is.
I don't know why these won't load...pictures on this site are a pain in the ***! These three pictures of the carb are in the gallery for my truck under gottahaveaford if you dont mind looking.

Reason: pics
Hmmm, never seen that carb before. most 223's have a Holley 1904 type. Yes you have the stock intake, but I think you may be missing some throttle linkage. I'll look at mine and maybe take a pic( it's -10 outside). Does your carb work OK? Just needs the linkage fixed?
Yeah it works, but I would prefer to go back to original gas pedal. That linkage is still there just not hooked up. I have a plate bolted on there that changes the angle of the cable. Looks awful. I don't want to spend the money on a new one barrel because I am eventually gonna upgrade to the clifford intake and put either the 2 or 4 barrel on.
OK, first, your carb is not turned 90 degrees....they all fit like that. Second, can you take a picture of the back of the carb and the throttle linkage? Why can't you hook up your stock linkage to the carb? You have a stock type carb and you have the stock linkage??? What am I missing?
Here are some pics from my spare engine...
Thats the way the guy had it rigged when I bought it. Had to drive it home with speaker wire hooked to the throttle through the fire wall. Your picture shows the same angle but no linkage...still cant tell how it would work. Comes through the fire wall going front to back but throttle on carb pulls side to side. I must be missing something. Dont see how it is supposed to work.
