PO470

Hey Guys,
Just have a quick question...

Just straight piped the exhaust and now about 45 miles later im pulling a code PO470... Any insight into what this may be? Could the straight exhaust have something to do with it? GRRRR Im 47 miles out of warranty!

Other than the code the truck runs amazing!

Oh and btw the truck is an 06 f250 6.0

Thanks,
Jason

EDIT: READ MY POST BELOW FOR UPDATED INFO

That code is for the exhaust back pressure sensor. With it being straight piped you probably are not having enough pressure back to the engine.

The EBP sensor tube could be clogging up, or the sensor itself may be bad. Couldn't hurt to pull it apart and have a look.

See #3 in the second picture.

Is that hard to do? What should I be looking for? I have never tore into one of those things...

Thanks,
Jason

Maybe I should have clarified a bit......this cold medicine is kickin' my butt big time.

Going to a bigger exhaust will NOT give you the P0470 code, but the EBP sensor certainly could, especially on an 06. Check the sensor, wiring, and clean the tube before replacing the sensor. It could simply be carbon blocking the tube. Sorry for the confusion. I apologize and corrected my first post.

Ok cool... I cleaned the sensor plug and checked the wiring then reset my computer... I guess I will wait and see if it pulls again any time soon...

Do you guys know of a place to see a diagram on how to take the tube and everything off?

Ok guys... A month later it pulled the same code... I guess I am going to have to tear into this thing...

One thing that I have noticed is when I am going a steady speed (45-50) it sounds kinda odd to me... Kinda like a surging sound. Truck runs fine though....

Does anyone know where I can go to figure out how to do this? I dont have a problem doing things myself... I just want to fix it and fix it right the first time...

Thanks so much!
Jason

Doesn't require much to unplug and screw out the EBP sensor. I use a small crescent wrench. No instructions--it's very straight forward.
