I have a question about my trans. I am assuming that it is a t-19. Near as I can tell the only place that has rebuild kits is Novak. Moving on, when the clutch is in I have no noise, and when its in neutral and the clutch is out I have a weird noise. I am not quite sure what it is. I am thinking perhaps a throw out bearing. Second, since I am planning to buy the aforementioned kit I am replacing the clutch. Any reccomendations on clutches?
I have a Borg Warner Brute Force clutch (gotten from Rock Auto on a wholesaler closeout
sale) and am happy with it, although I *did* go to a local auto parts store and bought a true
needle bearing to replace the single-piece bushing-like one that came in the BW kit.
The pilot bearing doesn't do anything with the clutch out? The throwout bearing doesn't do anything either with the clutch out, though it still may be turning with these hydraulic style clutch pedal systems.
No noise at all when in any gear? Have you check the oil level?
Frankin2 , it was late or early when i read the post , not the pilot BRG. the throw out BRG,can rattle around i have had that happen on one of our old trucks !
Thanks to everyone! I will check out those trans links. No I haven't checked it yet, I guess I should have just to make sure. Near as I can tell from the PO, he said he used some kind of super expensive Allison trans fluid/grease/ Apparently its this clear stuff and no longer available.
I don't have my Ford books here, but I just remove a plug and then peer in there. If its dirty I drain it through a different hole and then pill it through the sight hole?
