what thermostat and why

Yes, I do still have the EBPV working.
When I am going uphill, for the most part it is open.
I am watching the barometric, boost, and exhaust back pressure.
When I am climbing a hill, barometric plus boost is close to the EBP.
However it does close when I am going downhill.
If I take EBP minus barometric, 35 PSI or so exhaust back pressure.
So the engine is working a little harder even while I am coasting.
